Grass Roots initiative

Katrina Kinn (Kat) is the founder of PTSD Peer Support, a free daily online support service for people recovering from Post‑Traumatic Stress Disorder. After being diagnosed with PTSD in 2021 and facing limited access to care in her rural community, Kat created the service to address the gap in support for people living with PTSD in rural, regional and remote Australia.

PTSD Peer Support offers daily online meet‑ups with evidence‑based wellness topics that help people build resilience, manage symptoms, deepen self‑awareness and understand the impacts of PTSD. The program reduces isolation and stigma through consistent, community‑centred support.

It also provides a safe space for people to share their recovery experiences, celebrate achievements, and support one another during times when recovery feels challenging. Alongside the online sessions, the service hosts in‑person social meet‑ups to help people gently re‑engage with social life in environments where others understand the unique challenges of PTSD.
